The Specialty Coffee Christmas Gift Guide for People Who Take Coffee Seriously

The Specialty Coffee Christmas Gift Guide for People Who Take Coffee Seriously

You know the one. The person in your life who grinds their own beans, talks about washing process and altitude like a wine person talks about terroir, and silently judges every Nespresso pod they're offered at someone's house.

Buying coffee gifts for that person used to be difficult. Now it's easy, because we've done it.

Why single-origin coffee makes the best Christmas gift

Most coffee on supermarket shelves is a blend — several origins mixed together to hit a consistent taste profile at scale. There's nothing wrong with that. But a single-origin coffee tells you exactly where it came from: the farm, the region, sometimes the specific lot.

For a coffee lover, that's information. It's the difference between a bottle of wine from "southern France" and a bottle from a specific château in Bordeaux.

Guatemalan coffee is, by most accounts, among the best in the world. Grown at high altitude, on volcanic soil, in a climate that produces fruit-forward acidity and a natural sweetness that doesn't require sugar. If you know someone who cares about what's in their cup, this is where to start.

The Rascal Coffee Christmas Gift Selection

Rascal Coffee is a specialty roastery in East London. We're the only UK roaster that sources exclusively from Guatemala — partly because we believe it's the best coffee-producing country on earth, and partly because our family has been farming there since 1870. Our coffee comes directly from Finca Filadelfia in Antigua, one of Guatemala's most celebrated farms.

Award-Winning Guatemalan Coffee Beans — The Filadelfia Bourbon & Caturra

From £14 / 250g

This is our signature. Filadelfia Bourbon & Caturra Washed — grown at 1,580 metres above sea level in Antigua, Guatemala, harvested by our family, and roasted in Hackney the week you order it.

In October 2026, it was named Best Coffee of Antigua by Anacafé, Guatemala's national coffee authority. If the person you're buying for knows what that means, this gift will land perfectly. If they don't, it's a good conversation opener.

Tasting notes: Balanced, bright, clean. Stone fruit acidity, milk chocolate body, long finish. Brew it as: Filter, pour-over, AeroPress, or espresso. Who it's for: The everyday serious coffee drinker. The person who has a V60 and uses it.

The Rare Lot: Finca Santa Irene Bourbon Sidra Natural

From £11.29 / 50g or £24.99 / 150g

There are around 50 kilograms of this coffee left in the world. The Bourbon Sidra is a crossbreed of the Bourbon and Sidra varieties — a rare combination that produces exceptionally complex fruit-forward flavours, especially when naturally processed (sun-dried on the fruit for 30+ days).

If the person you're buying for is a coffee geek — someone who talks about varietals and tracks micro-lots — this is the one. It's the kind of thing specialty coffee people find on their own and tell everyone about. Getting it as a gift feels special.

Tasting notes: Tropical fruit, stone fruit, floral, sweet. Brew it as: Slow filter. Give it space. Don't rush it through an espresso machine. Who it's for: The enthusiast who already knows the classics.

Guatemalan Decaf Done Properly — El Decaf

£13.36 / 250g

Decaf often means compromise. El Decaf doesn't. Made with the sugarcane process — a natural, chemical-free method — from multiple Guatemalan farms, it keeps the body and sweetness that makes Guatemalan coffee good while removing the caffeine.

This is for the person who loves specialty coffee but has switched to decaf for health reasons, pregnancy, or because they drink coffee in the evening and want to sleep. There is no reason decaf has to be bad. This proves it.

Who it's for: The late-night reader, the pregnant coffee lover, the person who gave up caffeine and still misses good coffee.

Los Cedros de Palmira

£16.51 / 250g

Our newest single origin. From Palmira, Guatemala, at higher elevation — a washed lot with a distinctly different profile to Filadelfia. For the person who wants to compare and contrast.

Who it's for: The person who buys you a coffee every time and deserves something thoughtful back.

How to wrap coffee as a gift

If you're ordering for Christmas, keep it simple:

  • Order the coffee whole bean (you can request ground if they don't have a grinder)
  • Write a note. Tell them which farm it came from, how high it was grown, why it's special. We'll include tasting notes with every bag.
  • Pair it with something. An AeroPress, a simple hand grinder, a nice mug. The coffee is the gift. The rest is set-dressing.

If you want to give the gift of ongoing coffee — a subscription, a regular order — message us at hola@rascal.coffee and we'll sort it.
